Centennial Park Dog Exercise Area

Centennial Park Dog Exercise Area is a purpose-built fenced park on Sanford Road in Albany's sporting precinct, open around the clock. Its selling point is the layout: three separate fenced sections, one of them high-fenced, so dogs of different temperaments are not forced into the same yard.

The dog setup

Large grassed areas come with some shade and waste disposal stations, and the high-fenced enclosure suits jumpers, reactive dogs or anyone still working on recall. The sectioned design keeps meet-and-greets optional rather than compulsory, which is rare in a town-park setting and makes this one of the more flexible exercise areas on the south coast.

Close the gates behind you every time, and keep uninvited approaches away from children and nervous dogs, leashing up if there is any doubt. Water on site is inconsistent, so carry your own bowl and supply.

Worth knowing

The wider precinct is shared with sports grounds, so dogs stay out of areas signed as dog-prohibited and off fields during organised use. Weekday mid-mornings are the quiet option, while Monday mornings, Friday evenings and weekend afternoons bring the regulars through in waves. There is little night lighting, so most visits happen in daylight hours.

Close by with the dogs
