The Greenhouse at Centennial Park

The Greenhouse sits inside Centennial Parklands at the Fearnley Grounds on Grand Drive, and arriving with a dog feels entirely expected here. There is a dedicated puppy menu for four-legged guests and, if your dog would rather not sit at the table, puppy parking outside with tie-up points and water bowls, so it works for both the settled dog and the restless one.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome on the outdoor deck and open-air seating overlooking the parklands; the indoor area is for humans. Note that Fearnley Grounds itself is an on-lead part of the park under the Centennial Parklands dog rules, so keep your dog leashed at the cafe and head to the designated off-leash zones for the run. Hours are 6:30am to 4pm daily, which covers early post-walk coffees and afternoon iceblocks alike.

The food

The menu is unfussy park fare: bacon and egg rolls for breakfast, falafel and chicken wraps for lunch, pastries and muffins in the cabinet and iceblocks for warm afternoons. It is built for picnickers and walkers rather than long brunches, which suits a park visit with a dog far better than a white-tablecloth room.

The park around you

More than 30% of Centennial Park's open space is designated off-leash, with the zones lying outside Grand Drive and on unused sporting fields; dogs are prohibited at Tramway Oval and Kippax Field, and must stay on lead on roads, shared paths and within 10 metres of waterways and the Federation Pavilion. The Busbys Pond and Duck Pond Loop is the scenic on-lead circuit from the cafe, and the Centennial Park Dog Exercise Area is the go-to for the off-lead stretch.
