Bunny Slope Cafe

Bunny Slope Cafe is a tiny, kitsch coffee spot near Randwick Junction, named for the owners' love of skiing and decorated accordingly: little bunnies, ski paraphernalia and a mini chocolate wheel among the shelves. It has only two indoor tables, so the footpath stools out front are the natural home for anyone arriving with a dog. The coffee is quality Grace and Taylor roast, and the short menu of toasties, baguettes and bagels keeps the line moving.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you at the outdoor stools and small tables on the footpath; the tight indoor room is not practical with a dog in tow. The owners, Joe and Fiona, are known for making people and their dogs feel welcome, though the setup is compact, so bring a travel bowl as water is not guaranteed on hand. Think of it as a quality coffee-and-snack stop rather than a long sit-down.

The vibe

The theme is fully committed and part of the fun: bunny decor, the chocolate wheel, and homemade cookies, cheesecake and carrot cake in the cabinet. The Japanese-style mini rolls are the menu's signature, including the tamagoyaki roll with folded egg, bacon and teriyaki on a milk bun. It runs from 7am weekdays to 3pm, slightly later starts on weekends, and the footprint is small enough that footpath stools are first in, first served.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits on St Pauls Street, close to Randwick Junction, so the light rail and local buses land you nearby without needing a car. Parking is on the residential side streets, and signs carry restrictions, so check before you settle in.

Close by with the dogs

The Frenchmans Road shopping strip is an easy add-on stroll, and Centennial Parklands are a short hop away for the big off-lead session; the Busbys Pond and Duck Pond Loop is a good circuit that pairs well with coffee.
