Curio Cafe

Curio Cafe is an all-day breakfast and lunch cafe at 17 Clovelly Road, Randwick, and it has a genuine reputation among eastern suburbs dog owners rather than a grudging one. Staff greet dogs as readily as their owners, water bowls come out without fuss, and a puppuccino is a common extra, so it works as a proper stop on a walk rather than a coffee you take away while the dog waits.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor alfresco seating, on lead and settled close to your table and clear of the foot traffic along Clovelly Road. There is no dog-entry fee. If your dog tends to sprawl, pick a kerbside table where there is a little more room. Weekday mornings are the relaxed window; weekends fill up fast, so an early sit is worth planning if you want a table with the dog.

The vibe and the menu

It is a cosy, community-minded room with specialty coffee, fresh juice and homemade sweet treats alongside a hearty breakfast and lunch menu. Regulars order the smoked salmon salad and the steak sandwich, with smashed avo and eggs benedict covering the breakfast side. Doors open 7am to 4pm, every day of the week.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits on Clovelly Road, a short walk from the Randwick stop on the CBD and South East Light Rail, with local buses running the same strip. If you drive, expect paid, timed street parking along Clovelly Road and the side streets, tighter on weekend mornings than midweek.

Close by with the dogs

Centennial Parklands is close enough to pair with breakfast, with large areas where dogs can exercise off lead under council rules, and Coogee Dog Park is a short drive east if you want a fenced option. For a coastal leg afterwards, the Grant Reserve Walk starts at the southern end of Coogee Beach. Fellow dog-friendly locals include Little Green Bean Cafe and Queens Park Kitchen if Curio's alfresco is full.
