The Griff Coffee Bar

The setup. The Griff is a specialty coffee bar on Wendouree Drive, on the Lake Burley Griffin foreshore, and it is built around the after-walk coffee. Seating is outdoor on a grassy embankment under shady trees, with an unobstructed view across the water. This is one of the more genuinely dog-led stops on the lake.

Dog access. Seating is all open-air, so there is no indoor question to worry about. Water bowls are out for dogs, and the cafe puts out complimentary house-made dog treats, which reviewers mention often. Keep yours on-lead and there is plenty of room to spread out on the grass.

Known for. High-quality coffee, friendly and quick service, and its reputation as an unpretentious spot for a coffee and a walk. The dog treats are part of the draw.

Getting there. Wendouree Drive, Parkes. Street parking runs along Wendouree Drive and fills on weekends, so arrive early. The lake walking and cycling paths run right past the door.

Nearby with the dogs. You are directly on the Lake Burley Griffin path, with grassy open space around Parkes and Acton for a longer wander, and the city centre only minutes away.

Best early on a weekend morning, before the parking and the deck fill up. Good for social dogs who like grass, shade and a treat.
