The Pedlar

The Pedlar is a relaxed pub and cafe at 65 Constitution Avenue in Campbell, running breakfast through to dinner with a full bar. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, which makes it a dependable post-walk stop close to Lake Burley Griffin and the War Memorial parklands, and one of the few spots in this corner of Canberra that opens early enough to anchor a morning outing rather than just finish one.

The dog setup

Dogs take the outdoor seating, with sunny spots in winter and shade in summer, and water bowls are provided. Indoors is generally reserved for service dogs only, so plan to sit outside. The tables sit close to Constitution Avenue traffic, so settle your dog on the inside of the table with a short lead.

The vibe

The menu spans breakfast, lunch and dinner alongside wine, beer and cocktails, and the room fills with walkers stopping in after a lap of the lake or the hill. It is a popular local rather than a destination venue, which is exactly the point: you can turn up muddy after a gully walk and nobody blinks. Doors open from 7am on weekdays and 8am on weekends, though it is worth confirming current hours before a special trip.

Max: weekend brunch is the busy window here. A weekday breakfast table is calmer for a dog still learning to settle at a footpath.

Getting there and parking

Street parking is available on Constitution Avenue, the nearby side streets and behind the shops, and it is an easy walk from the surrounding Campbell residential streets.
