Dogge

Dogge has built its whole identity around a simple idea: dogs are guests here, not an afterthought. The cafe on Alice Street welcomes dogs inside as well as out on the street side, which is still unusual for inner Sydney, and the kitchen keeps a full menu going for the four legged visitors alongside the usual coffee and brunch for everyone else.

The dog setup

The indoor welcome is the headline. Plenty of Sydney cafes stop at the footpath, but at Dogge dogs can come through the door and settle in, provided they are well behaved and kept secure while inside. The dog menu is where things get interesting: pup cups, pupcakes and woof waffles are all regular orders, and the kitchen can put together dog-safe celebration cakes for birthdays and gotcha days. Staff are known for making a fuss of returning dogs, and there is a small play area to keep busy noses occupied while you finish your flat white.

Humans are looked after too. The kitchen menu earns its own fans rather than playing second fiddle to the dog side, so a visit works as a proper breakfast or lunch stop, not just a photo opportunity. Doors open early, from 6:30am on weekdays and 7am on weekends, with service winding up in the mid afternoon, so mornings are the window to aim for.

Alice Street sits a short walk from the King Street strip, so it is easy to build a dog friendly circuit around Newtown.
