Ressies Cafe

Ressies Cafe is a caravan-style coffee stop at 36 Main South Road in Myponga, on the main drag through the southern Fleurieu Peninsula, with a shaded outdoor courtyard where dogs sit alongside their people. It is the kind of place you plan the drive around rather than stumble into.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor, shaded seated area, and leashes stay on out of respect for the other tables. The courtyard gives enough room for a dog to settle without sitting in a walkway.

The vibe

The coffee is from local roasters Dawn Patrol with milk from Fleurieu Milk, alongside homemade cakes and fresh toasties. The carrot cake and banana bread have a following, as do the hot salami toastie, the egg and bacon sandwich and the iced chocolate.

It opens early, trading 7am to 2pm on Monday, Tuesday and Friday and 8am to 3pm on weekends, with Wednesday and Thursday closed. Weekend mornings are the busy stretch, so an early table is easiest.

Max: salami toastie in the shade, dog flat under the table, back on the road south before the lunch rush.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits directly on Main South Road as it passes through Myponga, roughly 15 minutes south of McLaren Vale and an hour from Adelaide. Free street parking is usually available out front or on the nearby side streets.

While you're out there

Myponga Reservoir Reserve is close by for an on-lead walk, and the beaches and dog parks of the coast are a short drive away: Victor Harbor Fenced Dog Park sits down the road toward the south coast.
