Symonds Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Symonds Reserve Fenced Dog Park sits on Stewart Avenue in Aldinga Beach, a fully fenced off-leash park with separate large and small dog areas tucked inside a wider reserve that also carries a playground and community centre.

The rules

Dogs can be off-leash inside the fenced enclosures but must stay under effective control. Keep your dog leashed until you are through the gate and safely inside, so there are no run-ins with pedestrians outside, and check the latch behind you on the way in.

The split into large and small dog zones means you can pick the right speed for your dog, useful if yours is nervous around big, boisterous types.

What's there

Both enclosures have grass with woodchip sections and native gardens, plus agility-style obstacles like tunnels and hurdles. Fresh water and bowls are on site, with shaded bench seating for owners and bins for waste. The council lists the dog facility as two separate, double-gated spaces, so big and small dogs can run at their own pace.

The surrounding Symonds Reserve adds public toilets, a playground and tennis courts, so it works as a family stop as well as a dog run.

Getting there and parking

The reserve is reached off Aldinga Beach Road from the Main South Road corridor, with a dedicated car park including accessible parking at the reserve. Local bus routes run along nearby roads, though check Adelaide Metro for current services.

When to go

It is busiest on Saturday mornings and weekday late afternoons from around 4 to 6pm as locals arrive after work. For a quieter session with more room, aim for the middle of a weekday or early on a Sunday, and bring water in summer because the shade is patchy in the heat of the day.
