Sweet Life Gelateria and Pizzeria

Sweet Life Gelateria and Pizzeria is a family-run gelato maker and weekend pizzeria inside the Aldinga Arts Eco Village on Port Road, with a big casual garden where dogs on lead are welcome while you work through a cup of handmade gelato. It is a genuine Fleurieu afternoon stop rather than a morning coffee run, since the doors open at midday or later.

The dog setup

The garden seating is the spot: spacious, relaxed and fine for a well-behaved dog on lead. Water bowls are sometimes out, but bring your own to be safe, and send one person inside to order rather than squeezing the dog through the counter queue. The open garden tables suit a dog far better than the winter dining igloos that pop up when it gets cold.

The vibe

The gelato is made by hand with local Fleurieu produce: coffee, chocolate hazelnut and seasonal flavours rotate through the cabinet, with sorbets and gluten-free options alongside. Roman-style pizzas run Friday and Saturday nights. Opening days are limited, generally Friday to Sunday with early weekday hours on Monday only, so check before you drive out.

Getting there

Free parking is on site within the Arts Eco Village at 167 Port Road, on the run between the Aldinga township and Port Willunga, which makes it an easy add-on to a southern beaches day.

When to go

Warm weekend afternoons draw a queue; late afternoon is the easier window for a garden table with the dog, and Friday pizza night rewards arriving early.

Goodness Coffee Co in the township covers the morning coffee leg, and Symonds Reserve fenced dog park at Aldinga Beach is a short drive for an off-leash run before the gelato stop.
