Lady Annie

Lady Annie is a bright, casual cafe at 4/672 Beaufort Street in Mount Lawley, run by the same team behind Bossman across the street. It is known for coffee and toasties, and the rear courtyard is the reason to bring a dog along.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the rear courtyard and at the front street tables, kept on lead. The courtyard is the pick: sun through the day, room to settle a dog beside the table, and enough passing pups that well-socialised dogs fit right in. No dog menu and no guaranteed bowls, so bring your own water.

On the menu

The espresso list runs to seasonal specials such as a butterscotch latte, and the food is compact and done well: toasted banana bread with butter, wholesome toasties, granola bowls, gingerbread and gluten-free brownies. Weekday doors open 6:15am and 7am on weekends, both winding up at 2pm, which makes it a solid first stop on a morning walk.

Getting there

Find it at 4/672 Beaufort Street, with street parking on Beaufort Street and the side streets such as Queens Crescent and Second Avenue. Buses run constantly along Beaufort Street if you are coming from the city end.

Make a day of it

Note that nearby Hyde Park is on-lead only despite its size. For an actual run, the fenced Mount Lawley Inglewood dog park sits up the road, and Jack Marks Reserve at the Highgate end has double-gated entry and agility equipment. On the same strip, Old Speak and Local and Aesthetic both take dogs at outdoor tables.

Best on a weekday morning or a sunny weekend when the courtyard earns its keep. Confirm hours and the pet arrangement on arrival, as small cafes shift things seasonally.
