The Espresso Room

The Espresso Room is a relaxed, French-leaning local cafe on Middle Head Road in Mosman, and it is the kind of stop Mosman dog walkers build their morning around. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, and the cafe sits within easy reach of the Middle Head precinct and the harbour foreshore walks. It opens 6am to 3pm Monday to Saturday and 7am to 2pm on Sunday.

The dog setup

Dogs take the outdoor and outdoor-adjacent seating; the room inside is for people. Staff are used to dogs dropping in mid-walk, but the tables are close together, so keep your dog on lead and tucked in beside you. A water bowl is not guaranteed, so pack one on warm days.

The vibe and the menu

The draw is an unfussy, well-made breakfast and light lunch list: the bacon and egg roll with tomato chutney is the signature order, alongside gourmet sandwiches, muffins, pastries and fresh juices like carrot, apple and ginger. Coffee is consistently well rated, and milkshakes get their own fan club. Expect a local crowd on weekend mornings; a weekday visit or an early start is the calmer option with a dog.

Getting there and pairing it with a walk

The cafe sits in the Middle Head Road strip, where on-site and street parking is findable but tight on weekends, and the area is easy on foot if you are already walking the neighbourhood. Council rules make the surrounds good dog country: the off-leash zones around Mosman's off-leash dog area cover Sirius Cove and Clifton Gardens, where dogs can run on sand and grass under council times, while the national park tracks around Middle Head itself are strictly on-lead. The Balmoral Beach to The Spit walk is a longer harbourside option nearby, and Don Adan's Coffee Tree is another Mosman cafe that takes dogs.
