Fala Fels

Fala Fels is a Middle Eastern-inspired cafe at The Lanes Boulevard in Mermaid Waters, doing fast, fresh food: crispy falafel pita pockets, house-made hummus, sabich and fresh salads, with bacon-and-egg pitas for the breakfast crowd. It opens from 5:45am on weekdays, so it doubles as an early coffee stop, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables out front, which makes it a genuine puppy-friendly pit stop between the canal-side walks and the beach.

The setup is a relaxed footpath-style row with room to park a dog beside your chair, and the team is known for being accommodating, water bowls included. Carry your own bowl as backup on hot Gold Coast days. Service is quick, which suits a dog who would rather not hold a sit for twenty minutes, and the footpath traffic is neighbourhood-scale rather than beach-crowd chaos.

The kitchen leans healthy and quick. The falafel pocket is the signature order, made on fresh pita with crisp falafels and hummus, and the vegan options are a real part of the menu rather than a token salad. Coffee runs on Merlo beans, and there are sweet treats including vegan and gluten-free picks. Hours run to 3pm most days (to 7pm Fridays, from 6am Sundays), so it is a morning-to-lunch spot rather than a dinner option.

The address is Shop 2C, 51/73 The Lanes Boulevard, in the small retail strip. There is a free car park for the precinct plus street parking nearby, so arriving with the dog in the car is straightforward.
