Pizzey Park Fenced Dog Park

The fenced dog park inside Pizzey Park at Mermaid Waters is the fully enclosed agility section of the wider off-leash precinct, and that is the point of difference: secure boundaries plus training obstacles, which suits dogs that need containment or an escape-prone recall. It sits under mature pines and is managed by the City of Gold Coast.

The rules. Dogs are on-leash through the broader Pizzey Park, and off-leash only inside the fenced zone (and the separate designated lake beach area). Effective voice control is required even inside the fence. Playgrounds and sports fields are off-limits to dogs. Bag and bin your dog's waste; bags and bins are provided.

What's there. Agility obstacles for training and stimulation, shade from the pines, benches and picnic tables, a public toilet, and extensive free parking. The lake beach for swimming is a short walk away within the same precinct if you want to combine a run and a wade.

Getting there. Access is off Pizzey Drive, Mermaid Waters, reachable via Southport-Burleigh Road. Free parking is plentiful, and several bus stops sit within walking distance nearby.

Nearby with the dogs. Dog-friendly cafes are a few minutes away, including Mercado and Two Birds One Stone Q, both taking dogs at outdoor tables.

When to go. Weekend mornings (roughly 8-11am) and late afternoons draw the crowds. For a timid dog or one just starting agility, a weekday mid-morning is far quieter.
