Robina Common Fenced Dog Park

Robina Common is a fully fenced off-leash dog park off Ron Penhaligon Way, and the draw is the secure double-gated setup paired with a small agility course and a sandy beach edge along the water. It is a genuine fenced run, not just a marked-off corner of a reserve, which makes it a safer pick for dogs with an unreliable recall.

The rules. Keep your dog leashed until you are inside the fenced enclosure, and clip back on before you leave. Dogs stay out of the adjacent children's playground entirely. The usual council expectations apply: effective voice control at all times, pick up after your dog using the bins provided, and take any dog showing aggression home rather than working it out on site.

What's there. The fenced section has a water tap and dog drinking fountain, basic agility equipment, picnic tables and bench seating, and a good spread of natural shade trees. There is a sandy beach area along the water that dogs use for a paddle, so expect a wet, sandy dog if you let them in.

Getting there. Parking is in the cul-de-sac right by the entrance off Ron Penhaligon Way. It is a small lot and fills on weekend mornings and the weekday after-work rush, so you may need to wait for a spot or park further along. TransLink bus routes service Robina nearby, with the closest stops around Arbour Crescent and Robina Parkway.

Watch-outs. The ground turns dusty in dry spells and muddy after rain. The water edge attracts swans, so keep an eye on dogs that like to chase, and rinse off the sand and lake water before the car.

Quietest mid-morning on a weekday, roughly 10am to 2pm. Busiest Saturday and Sunday mornings and weekday afternoons from about 4:30 to 6pm, which is the time to come if your dog wants company. Early morning is the coolest run in summer. Good for social dogs and anyone who needs a fence between their dog and the road.
