Deja Bru Cafe

Deja Bru Cafe is a boutique neighbourhood cafe in the McDowall Village Shopping Centre, and the reason to bring your dog here is the designated outdoor seating area where dogs are explicitly welcome. Indoors is off-limits, so this is a fair-weather table rather than an all-seasons one.

The dog setup

Dogs are permitted in the sunny outdoor seating area immediately outside the cafe. Keep your dog leashed and settled beside you, and pick a shaded spot if the morning is warming up. Staff are known for being accommodating with pets, so a quiet, well-mannered dog will slot straight in.

The vibe and the menu

The cafe pours award-winning Elixir coffee blends and runs a well-regarded all-day breakfast menu, with the smashed avocado a particular favourite and a cabinet of specialty cakes and slices alongside. Service is consistently described as fast and warm. Hours are 6am to 2pm weekdays and 6:30am to 1pm weekends.

Max: Dogs are outdoor-only here, so time your visit for the cooler hours if your dog tends to run warm in direct sun.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at Unit 9/109 Beckett Road, inside the shopping centre, with free parking in the centre car park. It gets busy around the afternoon school pickup, but morning and lunchtime visits are generally easy.

Close by with the dogs

For an off-lead run before coffee, Grey Gum Park in Stafford Heights is the closest fenced option, and Roy Harvey Park at Stafford is another solid fenced choice a few minutes south. The Chermside Hills Reserves walk is nearby too if you would rather earn the coffee on a bushland track.
