Grey Gum Park Fenced Dog Park

Grey Gum Park's fenced dog park on Rode Road is one of the better-equipped yards on Brisbane's northside. Two separate enclosures split small dogs from big dogs, agility equipment gives high-energy dogs something to burn on, and the mature gums over the benches throw real shade, which matters by late morning in a Brisbane summer. It is open around the clock and draws a friendly regular crowd.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies inside the fenced yards only, so leash up everywhere else in the park. The double-gated entries are the pinch point: one dog and one gate at a time, and check the latch behind you. Small or nervous dogs have their own dedicated yard, so there is no need to chance the main run. Keep your dog in sight and under effective control, pick up straight away, and leash up and leave if your dog shows aggression. Bags are usually stocked at the dispensers but carry spares, because Brisbane City Council restocks on its own schedule, not yours.

The vibe

The regulars make this park. Morning and evening sessions bring the same faces most days, and the crowd is generally welcoming of new dogs. Beyond the fenced areas, the wider Grey Gum Park has a tree-lined loop path, an outdoor gym and accessible entries, so it works as a full walking circuit even if you skip the yards.

Water taps for dogs, bench seating, bins and lighting over the fenced areas cover the practical side. The lighting makes early and late visits workable through summer, and the tree canopy keeps parts of both yards usable through the middle of the day.

Getting there and parking

The dog park sits at the Rode Road end of Grey Gum Park in Stafford Heights. Street parking runs along the Rode Road perimeter and the side streets, and Translink buses along Rode Road stop within a short walk.

Close by with the dogs

Coffee afterwards is easy. Mister Rabbit Cafe and Crummble Coffee and Toasties both take dogs at their outdoor tables a short drive away. If this yard is crowded, the suburb's second fenced run, Webster Road Park, is minutes up the road.
