The setup. Pool Coffee Eatery sits on Marine Parade near Mahon Pool at the northern end of Maroubra, with ocean views straight off the coastal path. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, and the exterior deck is roomy enough to settle a dog comfortably beside you while you take in the view.

Bring your own bowl. Staff are friendly to dogs but keeping water out is not guaranteed, so carry a portable bowl. It opens early, around 6:30am, and closes mid-afternoon, which makes it a natural post-walk breakfast stop.

Getting there. Street parking on Marine Parade fills fast in good weather. The larger Mahon Pool Reserve car park is a short walk away and a safer bet.

Nearby. The southern end of Maroubra Beach has an off-leash area for a run, and the coastal walk toward Mahon Pool is scenic on leash. Keep dogs on lead on the paved paths around the pool itself.
