Pool Coffee Eatery

Pool Coffee Eatery sits at 94 Marine Parade on the northern headland of Maroubra, directly opposite the historic Mahon Pool, with ocean views straight off the coastal path. It is a relaxed, beach-shack style cafe that opens early and serves a coastal Mediterranean leaning menu, which makes it a natural first stop after a dawn walk along the headland.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, and the deck out front is roomy enough to settle a dog comfortably beside you with the water in view. Staff are used to dogs and will usually bring a water bowl on request, but carrying your own portable bowl covers the busy weekend breakfast rush. There is no dedicated dog menu, so this is a bring-your-own-treats kind of stop.

The menu

Breakfast runs from shakshuka and homemade corn fritters to eggs Benedict and a bacon and egg roll, with the flat whites getting consistent praise. Lunch moves toward grilled barramundi, pulled lamb burgers and fresh seafood, plus juices and smoothies. It trades 6:30am to about 3pm on weekdays and later on weekends, so it is strictly a breakfast and lunch venue.

Getting there and parking

There is a mix of free and paid street parking along Marine Parade and in the bays around Mahon Pool Reserve, but it fills early on sunny weekends. The northern end of Maroubra Beach is a short walk, and the coastal path north toward Coogee runs right past the door.

Worth knowing

Dogs are prohibited at all times on Maroubra Beach itself and in and around the Mahon Pool rock pool, so keep the lead on along the seawall and save any off-lead time for a council reserve. The coastal walk from Coogee to Maroubra makes a good leashed warm-up before breakfast, and Jervoise Bay Dog Beach up the coast is the legal sand option.
