Billycart coffee

Billycart Coffee is a casual, retro-styled coffee cart at Lake Macquarie Airport, 864 Pacific Highway, Marks Point, best known for its friendly service and a genuinely unusual backdrop of light aircraft on the tarmac.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the open-air seating around the cart, on the picnic rugs, chairs and casual tables. There is no entry or seating fee for dogs. Keep dogs on-leash and under control, both for other customers and because you are on active airport grounds. Water bowls and treats are commonly put out for dogs, though it is worth bringing your own as backup.

Known for. A strong, well-made coffee and toasties, and a laid-back atmosphere that has made it a popular meeting point for dog walkers, cyclists and road-trippers passing through on the Pacific Highway.

Getting there. Right on the Pacific Highway at Marks Point, with ample free parking on-site in the airport's gravel lot.

Nearby with the dogs. Naru Beach, a few minutes away by dirt road, is a shallow, leash-friendly spot on Lake Macquarie good for a paddle. The Marks Point Dog Exercise Area on Haddon Crescent is close by too, an unfenced reserve for off-leash time if your dog needs to burn energy first.

When to go. A reliable stop any time of day, quieter on weekday mornings if you want the picnic tables to yourself. Good for a quick coffee before or after a walk rather than a long sit-down.
