The Trading Post Cafe is a family-run roadside cafe at 787 Pacific Highway, Belmont South, pouring house-roasted coffee and a steady line of breakfast plates for Lake Macquarie locals and passing travellers. The coffee is roasted in-house, and the kitchen keeps a straightforward breakfast and lunch menu: wraps, poached eggs, gourmet sandwiches and a cabinet of pastries. It opens 6:30am to 2pm on weekdays and 7:30am to 2pm on weekends, and the plants-and-timber roadside room fills with a mix of tradies, lake walkers and travellers through the morning.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits directly on the Pacific Highway as it runs through Belmont South, with limited parking out front and overflow in the adjacent residential streets. Mornings are the busy window, so allow a few minutes to park on weekends.

Make a day of it

The foreshore around Belmont gives the dog a leg stretch before or after coffee, and the Swansea dog exercise area a little south is an official off-lead run.
