Talanees Coffee is a mobile coffee van set up in George Clayton Park on the Manly waterfront, pouring through the mornings for the bayside walking crowd. Because the whole operation lives in an open park by the sea rather than a walled-in cafe, dogs slot into the morning routine here without any fuss. It is a coffee stop built around an on-lead park walk, not a sit-down brunch room.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome around the van on a lead, which is the norm for Brisbane parkland anyway. Seating is whatever the park gives you: benches, grass and shade rather than fixed tables, so there is no indoor or outdoor question to settle. George Clayton Park has drinking fountains that cater to people and pets, so water is usually sorted, though carrying a bowl is never a bad idea. Ask at the van whether any dog biscuits are on hand that day; the regular menu leans towards baked goods and brownies for the human half of the leash.

What they pour

The menu is van-sized and quick: barista coffee, iced lattes, smoothies and frappes, plus cookies and fresh brownies from local makers. Service is brisk, which is exactly what you want when you are mid-walk with a dog on lead. Hours

Mornings only: weekdays run 6:30am to 11am, and weekends stretch slightly later to midday. As a van, hours can shift with weather and events in the park, so a quick check before you set out is worth the ten seconds.

The van's position on the waterfront is the draw. The foreshore path gives you kilometres of on-lead walking with bay views, and a swim stop at the Manly off-leash dog beach turns a coffee run into a proper morning.
