Maison Du Cafe

Maison Du Cafe is a French-inspired local at 16 Richland Street in Kingsgrove, a short walk from the station, running coffee and a French-leaning brunch menu seven days with a mid-afternoon close. It is one of the better-looking rooms in the suburb, and the outdoor terrace is set up to take dogs.

Coffee is the headline, with the latte art getting particular attention, and there is a matcha for the green-drink crowd. The pastry cabinet leans French: croissants, Danishes and tarts sourced from quality bakeries including New York Cake. On the brunch plate the Grand Maison Breakfast stacks spicy chorizo, crispy bacon, sauteed mushrooms, spinach and roast cherry tomatoes on sourdough, while the sweet end runs to thick-cut brioche French toast with berries and vanilla bean ice cream, buttermilk hotcakes with caramelised banana, and acai and granola bowls. Reviewers consistently point at the hospitality and the tidy, calm room with fresh flowers on the tables.

Getting there and parking

Richland Street runs off the Kingsgrove Road strip a short walk from Kingsgrove Station, with free street parking nearby that tightens on weekend mornings. It opens from 5:30am on weekdays and 6:30am on weekends, closing mid-afternoon, which makes the weekday early shift a natural pre-commute or post-walk stop.

For off-lead time, the fenced enclosure at Kingsgrove Avenue Reserve is the closest option in the suburb, and Hughes Park at Earlwood is a few minutes east with the Cooks River parklands alongside.
