Code Espresso Kingsgrove

Code Espresso is an industrial-style espresso bar at Unit 88/2 The Crescent, Kingsgrove, in the workshop pocket on the southern side of the suburb. It pours its own house blend from 5am on weekdays and welcomes dogs at the outdoor seating, which makes it a go-to first stop for early starters and dog walkers around the Bardwell Creek side of town.

This is a working espresso bar rather than a sprawling courtyard, so it suits a settled dog tucked beside your chair; at the 5am open you often have the pick of the seats anyway.

Coffee is the engine here, with shakes and iced options alongside, and the kitchen covers generous breakfast and lunch plates: bacon and egg rolls, toasties, sandwiches and big breakfasts, with sides such as avocado, halloumi and mushrooms and something sweet in the cabinet. Hours run 5am to 3pm on weekdays, 6am to midday Saturday, and the doors stay shut on Sunday, so a weekend visit needs to be a Saturday one. Weekday mornings hum with trades and commuters; Saturdays are the relaxed window.

Getting there and parking

The Crescent runs through the industrial stretch south of Kingsgrove Road, reached easily from King Georges Road or Bexley Road, with street parking out the front in a part of the suburb where parking is never the problem it is near the station. It is a straightforward drive-in stop rather than a footpath-cafe strip.
