Little Pegs Cafe is a small, highly-rated specialty coffee spot on Charters Towers Road in Hermit Park, and it's explicitly dog-friendly, right down to staff who are genuinely dog-obsessed.

Dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the shaded outdoor seating area. Indoor seating is minimal at the best of times, so the outdoor tables are where you'll end up anyway. Keep dogs on lead, it's a high-traffic stretch of Charters Towers Road.

Good to know. Little Pegs is known for serious specialty coffee and house-made treats, think peanut butter muesli slice, banana bread and brownies. Open Monday to Friday 6am to 1pm, Saturday 6am to 11am, closed Sunday. Early is the way to go, before the morning coffee run picks up.

Getting there and parking. It's at 82 Charters Towers Road, Hermit Park, among a small strip of shops. Free street parking is available, plus a small free parking lot for the complex.

Nearby with the dogs. Domain Central shopping precinct is close by for a wander after your coffee, and there are local park spaces a short drive away around Hermit Park and Hyde Park.

Weekday mornings before 8am are quietest; by mid-morning the small outdoor area fills fast.
