Lou Litster Park Ross Creek Path

Along Ross Creek, on the border of Railway Estate and Hermit Park, the path through Lou Litster Park gives Townsville dogs something rare, a 34-acre unfenced off-leash area beside the water.

Leads and the off-lead area

Townsville City Council designates Lou Litster Park, off Boundary Street, as an off-leash area along the creek corridor. Outside the park, the usual on-lead rules apply on the surrounding streets and in other parks.

The walk

A paved concrete path runs through the park corridor. You follow a natural tidal creek fringed with mangroves, past open grass where people fish and ride bikes.

Max: Unfenced means recall matters. Clip on again before you reach the street.

Little Brick Road Espresso in Railway Estate is a handy coffee stop, and the National Park Fenced Dog Park suits dogs that are better behind a fence.

When to go

Townsville heat is the thing to plan around, so go early or late in the day. Bring water for the dog, since the park is mostly open grass.
