Little Eatery Glenelg

Little Eatery is a small, casual cafe on Adelphi Terrace on the Patawalonga River frontage in Glenelg North, and the relaxed end of the coast is the point: it sits well away from the Jetty Road crowds, with dogs welcome at the outdoor tables along the riverside walkway. It runs 7:30am to 2pm, seven days.

The dog setup

Dog seating is the outdoor tables on the river side; the indoor room is off limits. Staff are used to having pets around, and water on the path is common, but bring your own bowl if your dog is fussy since availability is not guaranteed on a busy morning. Keep your dog leashed and settled off the shared walkway, which carries runners and prams along the river.

On the menu

Reviewers rate the coffee and the ham and cheese toastie in particular, with a straightforward brekky-and-lunch list. The river frontage occasionally turns up a dolphin sighting while you wait, which is as good a reason as any to order a second flat white. Being small, the riverside tables go quickly once the morning walkers arrive, so go early.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking sits around Adelphi Terrace and the surrounding streets. The cafe works best as a stop mid-walk along the Patawalonga River path rather than a drive-to destination.

Close by with the dogs

The Glenelg North Dog-Friendly Beach is a few minutes away; under City of Holdfast Bay rules dogs are off-lead there year-round under effective control, though during daylight saving they must be on lead between 10am and 8pm. For a fenced run, Hazelmere Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park is just south in Glengowrie. Pav's Cafe at Somerton Park is another coastal dog-friendly stop.
