Wild Child Eatery - Georges Hall

Wild Child Eatery is the busy halal cafe on the Haig Avenue strip at 5/1 Haig Avenue, Georges Hall, and it has a reputation among local dog owners for being one of the more accommodating coffee stops in the area. The kitchen runs stacked brunch burgers, Middle Eastern touches like sujuk and labneh, Turkish eggs and the Astro Boy acai bowl that fills its Instagram feed, and the footpath tables out front are where dogs are welcome.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you at the outdoor tables on the footpath, on lead and settled beside your chair rather than wandering. Staff are prompt about bringing out fresh water bowls for canine guests, which is a step up from the bring-your-own norm at most suburban cafes. Because the strip is shared with regular foot traffic, keep the leash short and your dog tucked in close while plates are moving. Inside is people only, so if the front tables are taken you will be waiting for one rather than falling back indoors.

The vibe and the menu

This is a specialty coffee room with a serious brunch following: pistachio pancakes, shakshuka, chicken and waffles, corn fritters, slow cooked lamb benedict and fish tacos all come up again and again, alongside matcha lattes and fresh juices. It is popular, so expect a wait at peak brunch hours, particularly weekends. Hours run 6am to 2:30pm Monday to Friday, from 6:30am Saturday and 7am Sunday.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits in the small Haig Avenue shopping strip in central Georges Hall. Free street parking is available on the surrounding streets, though it tightens up during weekend brunch. The Georges River parklands are a short drive away for a walk before or after your meal.
