Dino’s Five Dock

Dino's Five Dock is a focacceria, deli and cafe at 223 Great North Road in Five Dock, in the Canada Bay pocket of Sydney's Inner West. It runs Tuesday to Saturday from 7am to 3pm, closed Sundays and Mondays, and the alfresco footpath tables out front are where the local dog walkers sit.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the alfresco tables out front on the footpath. There is no dog menu and water bowls are not guaranteed, so carry water on warm days. Street parking runs along Great North Road and the side streets, mostly on 1P and 2P signs, and the cafe is walkable from much of the suburb.

The food

The house-baked focaccia is the foundation, piled with slow-roasted whole-beast meats, the porchetta and pastrami sandwiches being the orders people come back for, plus margarita, mushroom and prosciutto pizzas. The cabinet runs to rotating cookies, slices and home-baked biscuits, with choc chip, peanut butter confetti and white chocolate macadamia among the packs. Coffee holds its own too. Pizza pop-up nights, announced on the @dinosfocacceria socials, add an evening option that the daytime hours do not.

Run first, sandwich after

The fenced enclosure at Five Dock Park is about a nine minute walk away, running 24/7 with separate double-gated zones for small and large dogs, shade and water stations. Queen Victoria Reserve in Drummoyne is the waterfront off-leash option, timed before 9am and after 5pm under City of Canada Bay rules, and the Bay Run path itself is on-leash only.
