Queen Victoria Reserve Off-Leash Dog Park

Queen Victoria Reserve sits on the northern tip of Drummoyne on Queen Victoria Street, a quiet waterside park with views over the Parramatta River. The draw for dogs is a small sandy river beach for a swim plus a sloping grassy area to run, but the off-leash hours are time-shared, so timing matters.

The rules. Dogs are off-leash only before 9am and after 5pm daily. At all other times they must be on-leash. The park is unfenced and opens straight onto the water and a road, so effective voice control is essential. Poo bag dispensers and bins are provided, and cleaning up is required by law.

The water. A small sandy river beach gives easy access for a paddle or swim. It is tidal, so aim for low to mid-tide to get the most sand for play. There is a spacious grassed slope above the beach for running about.

What's there. Bench seating, waste bags and bins. There are no public toilets and no water stations for people or dogs, so bring your own water and a bowl.

Getting there. Free on-street parking along Queen Victoria Street is generally easy to find. The reserve sits off St Georges Crescent, close to Birkenhead Point and the Bay Run.

Nearby with the dogs. The Bay Run is a short walk for a longer on-leash loop, and Brett Park down the foreshore gives 24/7 off-leash time. Cafes around Birkenhead Point and the Drummoyne streets have outdoor seating, though check availability before you settle in.

It is generally quiet, busier on Sunday afternoons and Saturday evenings. Mid-week mornings or late evenings are calmest, and they line up neatly with the off-leash windows. Good for dogs that love a swim and have solid recall.
