Cornercaf Eltham

Cornercaf is a long-standing, family-owned cafe in Eltham's Town Square precinct off Arthur Street, pouring well-regarded Beraldo coffee with a straightforward breakfast, brunch and lunch menu plus a good run of sweets and cakes. Locals know it for welcoming service and generous serves, and dogs have a proper place in the plan.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the casual outdoor seating in the Town Square, on a lead; indoor dining stays people-only, so plan to sit outside. Water is generally available, but bring your own bowl to be safe. The square setting is roomy compared with a footpath strip, which makes settling a dog simpler than at most village cafes.

Worth knowing

Hours run 8am to 3pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 1pm Sunday, so the Sunday window is short and breakfast-focused. It is worth confirming hours before a special trip, as small owner-operated cafes here have adjusted them seasonally. Weekday mornings are the calm sitting; weekends belong to the village brunch crowd.

Getting there and parking

Find it at 5/6 Arthur Street in the Town Square, easy walking distance from Eltham Station and the main shops. Free parking sits in the nearby lots and on the street, though it tightens on weekend mornings.

Close by with the dogs

The Diamond Creek Trail passes through Eltham for an on-lead walk either side of coffee, and for off-lead time the Eltham Lower Park Dog Fenced Oval and Off Leash Area and the Eltham North Dog Park are both close. Third Chapter is the other Eltham cafe worth a lap.
