JR's Coffee Lounge

JR's Coffee Lounge is a family-owned cafe in the Wyndham Street shopping strip in Drysdale, on the Bellarine Peninsula. It is the unpretentious kind of place locals duck into for a big breakfast and a cappuccino, and the outdoor footpath tables are where dogs are welcome. Hours are 7:30am to 3pm on weekdays, 7:30am to 1pm on Saturday, and it is closed on Sundays, so it is a morning or early-lunch stop rather than an afternoon one.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the small cluster of outdoor tables, not inside the lounge, so a calm dog who settles under a table is the right fit. There are only a few outdoor tables, so visiting outside the 8am to 11am peak improves your odds of a spot. No dog water or treats service is confirmed, so bring your own bowl. Keep your dog on lead and clear of the footpath flow, since the tables sit against a working shopping strip. Under City of Greater Geelong rules dogs are on-lead in shopping streets and stay 10 metres clear of playgrounds.

Worth knowing

The kitchen keeps it classic and generous: an all-day breakfast menu with a signature JR's Omelette, toasties, chicken and lamb wraps for lunch, fresh cakes and muffins in the cabinet, and a tea list that gets as much praise as the barista coffee. Reviews consistently highlight the friendly, welcoming staff and relaxed small-town feel, and prices sit at the budget-friendly end for the Bellarine. It is at Unit 4/16 Wyndham Street, with free parking in the surrounding shopping centre lot and along the street.

Drysdale Recreation Reserve on Duke Street, next to McLeods Waterhole, allows dogs off-leash on the ovals when no organised sport is running, and Tuckerberry Hill is a farm restaurant also in Drysdale for a later sit-down option.
