Sunny Corner Cafe

Sunny Corner Cafe is a Filipino-inspired neighbourhood eatery at Shop 1/2 Hill End Road, Doonside, directly opposite Doonside train station, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables out front. It is a small, homey operation rated highly by locals, and an easy stop before or after a session at the Bungarribee dog park just down the road.

The dog setup

Take one of the outdoor tables on the footpath and keep your dog on a short lead, because the cafe sits close to Hill End Road and the station forecourt, which gets busy at commuter times. Water bowls are not a given, so bring your own or ask staff when you order. The interior stays humans-only.

The food

This is one of western Sydney's more interesting cafe menus: Filipino comfort food including sisig, tapsilog and other all-day silogs, pancit, lomi and halo-halo, alongside crispy pata on the specials board and a classic bacon and egg roll for anyone after a standard order. Hours are 6am to 5:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, closed Wednesdays, and 8am to 2:30pm weekends, with outdoor grill specials some Saturdays.

Pair it with Bungarribee

The obvious dog plan is the big fenced run at Bungarribee Park off Doonside Road, operated by the Western Sydney Parklands Trust, with the cafe on the way home. Nurragingy Reserve nearby is an on-lead walk only, so leave the lead on there. Caffeine Culture Cafe is the suburb's other dog-friendly coffee option if you are making a loop.
