Between the Flags Coffee

Between the Flags Coffee is a small espresso bar and retail coffee shop at 1/10 Beerburrum Street in Dicky Beach, a few steps back from the sand, opening at 5:30am every day of the week. It has a strong local following for the coffee alone, and it doubles as a proper dog stop on the strip, which local dog-friendly accounts feature regularly.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor patio seating, leashed and settled beside the table. The space is casual but compact, so it suits a calm beach-walked dog more than a bouncy one on a busy morning. Bring your own water bowl; staff sometimes have treats on hand for visiting dogs but that is never a promise.

Worth knowing

The coffee is genuinely the draw: house blends like the Tidal Blend, rotating single origins, and a retail wall of beans and brewing gear if your home setup needs upgrading. The Portuguese tarts are the pastry legend here, frequently called the best on the coast, with almond croissants and gluten-free cakes rounding out the cabinet. Everything wraps by 1:30pm, so it is strictly a morning and early-lunch venue.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking runs along Beerburrum Street and the surrounding residential streets, with a public car park nearby. The coastal pathway passes close, so walking in from Dicky Beach or toward Moffat Beach is easy.

Close by with the dogs

Dicky Beach sits at the end of the street, and Coochin Park gives the dog an off-lead run nearby before a patio breakfast; check council signage for current off-leash rules on the beach itself. The walkway toward Moffat Beach makes a good longer leg, with Groundskeeper Willie Coffee Roasters at the far end, and Sachi Coffee back toward Caloundra.
