Alley Cat Coolum Beach

Alley Cat sits at 1756 David Low Way in the main Coolum Beach shops, a relaxed local cafe that pours Allpress coffee from 5:30am and keeps some of the most weatherproof dog-friendly seating on the strip. If the wind is up or the showers roll in, this is the easy call.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor courtyard, which is covered and partly enclosed with plastic blinds, so your table stays dry on days that would wash out plain footpath seating. There are also street-side tables out the front for a quicker stop. Staff are friendly with dogs, but bring your own water bowl to be safe.

Worth knowing

The kitchen is well regarded for breakfast and brunch, with savoury muffins a long-running standout alongside fish tacos, a veggie stack and avocado bruschetta. Local live music sessions come through, and on Friday and Saturday evenings the room shifts to craft beers and wine, staying open to 9pm. Most other days it closes around midday, so plan the dog walk first and brunch after.

Getting there and parking

It is an easy walk from the Coolum foreshore. Street parking runs along David Low Way, with free public car parks behind the shops near the beachfront.

Close by with the dogs

Tickle Park is a short walk for a grassy, on-leash break, and the boardwalk out to Point Perry makes a scenic leg stretcher. For proper off-leash time, head north towards Stumers Creek: Stumers Creek Dog Off Leash Area covers the park side, and Coolum Beach Dog Off Leash Beach covers the sand. Note council rules mean dogs stay on-leash around the main beach access before the off-leash zone begins.
