Ma Boulange Cafe

Ma Boulange is a French patisserie and cafe at 7/1812 David Low Way, right by the Coolum Beach main strip. The draw is the baking: croissants, almond croissants, danishes, mille feuille and sourdough, alongside a solid French breakfast menu. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, which makes it an easy first stop before a walk on the sand.

The dog setup

Dogs sit at the open-air tables out front, a mix of street-side and partly sheltered spots under the umbrellas along David Low Way. Water bowls are provided, and the staff are used to dogs settling in beside the pastry display. The tables sit close to the footpath, so a dog that is comfortable with passing prams and other walkers will settle best.

Pepsi: this is a morning bakery stop rather than an all-day brunch couch. Get there early, order the almond croissant, and let your dog watch the street traffic go by.

The vibe

Casual and breezy, with the pace of a proper boulangerie rather than a sit-down restaurant. It opens at 6am and closes around midday Wednesday to Monday, and it is closed Tuesdays entirely, so plan around the morning window. Weekends get busy with the bakery crowd; a weekday visit is the calmer option for a restless dog.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking runs along David Low Way and the surrounding streets, usually easy outside the peak breakfast rush. It is an easy walk from the beach front and the central Coolum accommodation, so you can leave the car at your campsite or apartment and stroll in.

The Coolum to Point Arkwright foreshore trail starts close by for a leashed coastal walk with your coffee nearby. For a proper off-lead run, Stumers Creek Dog Offleash Area sits a couple of kilometres north. If Ma Boulange is full, Rock Hop Espresso is a quieter specialty coffee option a few streets back.
