Coolum Corner

Coolum Corner is a relaxed, family-run cafe on the corner of Birtwill Street and Heathfield Road in the Coolum Beach village hub, a few minutes' walk from the esplanade, and dogs are treated like regulars. The staff love dogs, water bowls sit out front, and visitors report the occasional homemade pup treat appearing unasked.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor and footpath tables along the cafe frontage, a covered and green corner with room to settle beside you. Keep dogs on lead and clear of passing foot traffic on the village footpath. Hours are 6:30am to 2pm on weekdays and 7am to 1pm weekends, so morning visits work best; it pays to confirm hours before a special trip, as village cafes here sometimes shift them.

The menu

The kitchen runs to all-day brunch: smashed avocado, sweet corn fritters, poached eggs with crispy bacon and salads, plus loaded toasties and wraps for takeaway. The in-house baking is the quiet star, with banana bread and gluten-free options in the cabinet. Coffee is Tim Adams, and the pots of sticky chai are worth the detour on their own.

Pairing it with a walk

Tickle Park on the beachfront is a short stroll for an on-lead leg-stretch, and the Coolum to Point Arkwright foreshore trail covers the longer ocean-view option. For the real run, the Stumers Creek Dog Offleash Area north of town lets dogs off lead on the sand roughly 3km either side of the creek once you are past the on-lead entry zone. If you are cafe-hopping, Rock Hop Espresso is the other puppy-friendly pick in town.
