Two Bob Snob

Two Bob Snob is a busy local brunch spot on Charman Road in Cheltenham, a couple of minutes from Westfield Southland in Melbourne's bayside southeast. Big flavours, quick service and a dog-welcoming footpath out the front have made it a fixture for local dog owners since it opened.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the footpath seating out the front, and the Bayside dog owners group has long listed it among the area's reliable dog-friendly eateries. Be honest about the space: it is limited, on a working footpath, and can be a squeeze at peak or with a couple of big dogs. Water bowls turn up sometimes, so pack your own to be safe, and keep the lead tucked in away from passing prams.

Worth knowing

The magic coffee has a following of its own, and the kitchen does a hearty brunch: Bob's Big Breaky, chicken and waffles, Reuben sandwiches, haloumi chips and lamb souvlaki all get regular mentions. It opens seven days, from 6am weekdays and 7am on weekends, trading until mid-afternoon.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at 256 Charman Road on a busy commercial strip, a short walk from Cheltenham station. Street parking on Charman Road is hard to land at peak, so the side streets off it are the better bet.

Close by with the dogs

For off-lead time after brunch, the Mentone Beach Dog Off Leash Area is a short drive south, a 24-hour off-lead stretch of sand on the Bayside foreshore. Kingston Heath Reserve on Centre Dandenong Road adds a fenced off-lead area with an agility circuit if the beach is a step too far. Check Kingston and Bayside council signage for current boundaries.
