Our Father

Our Father is a well-liked local cafe on Burraneer Bay Road in the Sutherland Shire, known for a strong brunch menu and a genuinely dog-friendly setup. It opens early, 6am weekdays and 7am weekends, and runs until 3pm daily, which suits a walk-first coffee stop on a Burraneer loop. Think of it as a neighbourhood fixture rather than a destination in its own right.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the front undercover outdoor seating and in the breezy rear courtyard. Indoors is off-limits under NSW food-premises rules, as at any NSW cafe. Staff are known to be dog-friendly and treats turn up from time to time, but bring your own water bowl to be safe. On busy days the courtyard fills quickly and staff sometimes need to shuffle seating, so confirm a dog-friendly table before you sit down with a bigger dog.

Worth knowing

The bacon and egg roll is the signature order, with corn and zucchini fritters, banana bread and a well-regarded coffee behind it. Lunch runs to barramundi and avo toast, and matcha lattes get a regular mention. Reviewers consistently note friendly, efficient service.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits at 182 Burraneer Bay Road. It is a popular spot on a main road, so the strip out front fills on weekends; try the surrounding residential streets if the kerb is full.

Close by with the dogs

Burraneer Bay itself is an easy stroll from the cafe for an on-lead leg stretch after brunch. For proper off-lead time, the Greenhills Beach dog off-lead area in Kurnell is a short drive away, with off-leash hours outside 10am to 4pm, and the Kurnell dog beach adds a calmer Botany Bay option. Nearby Vitalo at Lilli Pilli makes another dog-friendly stop on the same side of the peninsula.
