Albert Street Caffé and Bar

Albert Street Caffe and Bar is a light-filled, modern European cafe at 4/58 Albert Street in Berry, one street back from the Queen Street bustle. The verandah out front catches the morning sun and is where dogs are welcome, which makes it a calmer breakfast and lunch option than the main strip for owners with a dog in tow.

The dog setup

Dogs join you on the verandah seating; the indoor dining room is for people. Staff are easygoing with pups and usually happy to put a water bowl out on busy mornings, though a travel bowl in the bag is the reliable move. There is room beside the tables for a dog to settle on a lead.

Pepsi: Get there before 9am and the verandah is all yours. The staff even bring the water out before you ask.

On the plate

Coffee comes from Fish River Roasters and the kitchen turns out all-day breakfast plates, gourmet toasties (the steak toasty with beetroot onion relish gets repeat orders), fresh focaccias and a cabinet of cakes, with vegetarian and vegan options represented properly. The bar side of the operation makes it an easy lunch-to-late-afternoon stop too.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits a short walk from the Queen Street intersection, with free street parking along Albert Street and around central Berry. Hours run mornings into the early afternoon, closed Monday at the time of writing, so confirm before a weekday trip.

While you're out there

Berry is an inland village with no beach, but Shoalhaven City Council runs off-leash areas a short drive away: a fenced dog park at Bomaderry and the off-leash dog park at Shoalhaven Heads, which also puts you close to allocated off-leash zones on Seven Mile Beach. Closer in, the paths along Broughton Creek near the Camp Quality Park precinct are a pleasant on-lead stroll, and the heritage streets around Queen Street are wide, shady and dog-friendly for a slow walk.
