Bomo Dog Bowl Fenced Dog Park

Bomo Dog Bowl is a fully fenced, 24/7 off-leash park on the old Thurgate Oval site in Bomaderry, and it is one of the better-equipped dog parks in the Shoalhaven. A double-gate airlock entry keeps escapes to a minimum, and a 2025 upgrade added a second fenced section so nervous or small dogs are not forced to share space with the boisterous crowd.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies around the clock within the fenced boundary under Shoalhaven City Council rules: stay in the park with your dog, keep it under voice or visual control, and leash and leave immediately if a dog turns aggressive. There is a water station with bowls, doggy bags are provided, and the two-section layout means the smaller fenced section suits shy, small or elderly dogs while the main bowl takes the confident, social crowd. Some agility gear and a bucket of donated toys that regulars top up round it out.

Pepsi: the second fenced section is worth checking out if the main bowl is packed with big, boisterous dogs. It's a calmer spot for a first visit.

Worth knowing

Shaded seating is limited, with boulders for owners to perch on, so bring your own shade on hot days. The ground can develop holes with heavy use, so keep an eye on footing during boisterous play. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quiet window, while Saturday and Sunday mornings and Monday and Wednesday evenings draw the biggest crowds.

Getting there and parking

The park is at Thurgate Oval, Birriley Street, Bomaderry NSW 2541, with a car park directly next to the fence. Bomaderry railway station is close enough to walk from if you are relying on public transport, which is rare for a suburban dog park.

While you're out there

For coffee or doughnuts with the dog, Espresso Boy Doughnuts Bomaderry is the local stop, and The Again & Again cafe and restaurant covers a proper meal. For a second fenced run, Nowra Fenced Dog Park is a few minutes across the river.
