She-Oak Crossing Walk

She-Oak Crossing Walk drops into the sandstone gorge of Bomaderry Creek Regional Park, on the edge of Bomaderry and North Nowra. Unlike most NSW national park land, this park lets dogs in on lead.

Lead rules

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service permits dogs on lead in the permitted sections of the park. Keep them away from the picnic areas and children's play areas.

The walk

This is a rough bush track of dirt and rock, with some rock scrambling. Allow about two hours to take in towering rock faces, mossy boulders, the creek and patches of rainforest.

The gorge and rainforest canopy keep it shaded even in summer. There are no water fountains on the track, so bring water and a bowl for your dog.

Toilets, picnic tables and bins are at the main Bomaderry Creek picnic area, and parking is near the entry and picnic area off Narang Road.

Max: Take the rocky scrambles slowly, with a short lead and both hands free. A dog that listens makes this walk far easier.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run afterwards, Bomo Dog Bowl Fenced Dog Park is in Bomaderry, and Espresso Boy Doughnuts can handle the coffee.

The shade makes this a good summer walk. It suits fit, sure-footed dogs rather than older ones that struggle on rock.
