Dogs at Shoalhaven Caravan Village

Dogs are welcome in the park on camping and powered sites, and are strictly prohibited in or around the on-site cabins, the amenities block and the pool area. Every dog stays on a leash at all times within the park, and picking up after your dog is non-negotiable. The park's FAQ mentions domestic animals up to 10 kilograms, tied to its long-term resident guidelines, and no nightly pet fee is published anywhere public. So: travelling with a small dog in a van or tent, this works. A big dog, or a cabin booking, this park will not. Confirm the weight limit and any charge with reception before you lock in dates.

The place itself

The riverfront is the draw. Powered and unpowered sites are generously spaced, the amenities are consistently described as clean, and the river walk starts right from the park. Cabins range from basic bunks-and-stove setups to two-bedroom riverfront options with air conditioning and a gas BBQ, none of them pet-friendly. This is a straightforward camping and boating park rather than a resort, which is exactly what most people towing a van through the Shoalhaven want.

Out with the dog

Because the park is leash-only with no on-site off-lead area, plan a drive for proper exercise. The Nowra Fenced Dog Park is the closest proper off-lead run, and across the river Bomo Dog Bowl in Bomaderry is a second fenced option. The Tea Club Cafe in Nowra is worth a stop on the way back.
