Nowra Fenced Dog Park

The Nowra Fenced Dog Park sits inside the Nowra Showground precinct at 2 North Street, a fully fenced grassed enclosure with agility gear, a water tap and a dedicated car park by the gate. It is the town's most convenient secure off-leash option: close to the CBD, easy to reach, and big enough for a proper run rather than a token dash.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced with double-gate entry, and agility hurdles and tunnels give small and medium dogs something structured to do between free running. Shoalhaven City Council's showground rules let dogs exercise off-leash on the showground area north of Worrigee Street around the clock, but the exclusions still apply: keep dogs away from playgrounds, picnic areas and the tennis courts, stay 10 metres clear of any building or facility, and expect the off-leash area to be out of bounds whenever a show, match or booked event is running. Waste bags are your responsibility; dispensers on site are not always stocked.

Max: walk the fence line before you unclip. Some visitors report small gaps in the fencing, and a determined escape artist will find them.

Worth knowing

That fence-line check is the one real watch-out here, particularly with small or quick dogs near the gates. Beyond that it is a straightforward, well-used park: grass underfoot, seating for owners, public toilets within the wider showground complex, and generally good cleanliness. If your dog needs a calm session, weekdays give you the most space; Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons are the social peaks, better for confident dogs who like company. Nearby Ben's Walk along the river is strictly on-lead if you want a cool-down afterwards.

Getting there and parking

Enter via the main showground entrance off North Street near the Worrigee Street corner. The dedicated car park sits right by the gate and is usually easy, though weekend mornings fill up. Local bus routes run past the precinct, but most visitors drive.

While you're out there

For a post-run coffee, The Tea Club Cafe on Berry Street has a garden courtyard that takes dogs, and The Deli on Kinghorne does outdoor seating in the CBD. Earnest Arthur covers the South Nowra end. For a second fenced session in the area, Bomo Dog Bowl at Bomaderry is a short drive north.
