Ginger Fox Cafe

Ginger Fox is a busy brunch cafe at 23-25 South Concourse in Beaumaris, in the middle of the local shopping strip, and it welcomes dogs at its outdoor tables. Open daily from 7am to 4pm, it is the natural stop after a foreshore walk.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the footpath seating along the Concourse, shaded by umbrellas on warm days. Staff are known to bring out a water bowl, and the outdoor zone is roomy enough for a dog to settle beside the table without blocking the walkway. Keep your dog close and out of the thoroughfare while you eat.

The vibe

Lively and local, with a fully licensed setup and a menu that runs well past standard brunch: steak sandwiches, the chicken and avo toastie, eggs benedict and a solid line-up of cakes, pastries and thick shakes. Coffee is the reliable order. It is a popular spot, so weekend mornings can fill up and the footpath tables go first; weekday visits are easier to land a table.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits in the heart of the South Concourse strip, with free high-turnover parking out front and around the Concourse. Buses along Balcombe Road stop a short walk away. The Beaumaris foreshore is a few minutes on foot down the hill.

While you're out there

Make the walk first: Ricketts Point Dog Off Leash Area covers the foreshore, and Sandringham Jetty to Ricketts Point is the longer coastal option. For an off-leash run inland, Donald MacDonald Reserve is close by when the oval is free, with Banksia Reserve as the second choice. If the tables are all taken, Brighton Jetty Bakery is the drive north.
