French & Mor

French & Mor is the French-inspired cafe and tearoom in the Albany Creek shopping strip, and the dog angle is simple: it is one of the few local spots where you can settle in for high tea, an almond croissant or a macaron with your pup parked beside the table. The alfresco seating out front is breezy, casual and regularly occupied by well-behaved dogs.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables only; the interior stays for humans. Staff are used to regulars bringing dogs and will usually bring out a water bowl, and dog biscuits sometimes make it onto the counter for sale. Keep your dog leashed and on the outer edge of the seating so the entrance stays clear. There is no fee and no booking for the alfresco tables.

The vibe and the menu

This is a pastry-led operation: almond croissants, macarons, French cakes and a chicken and leek pie are the standouts, and high tea is a genuine specialty with bookings. Coffee is solid and the staff get consistent praise for their friendliness. Hours run from 7am, later close on Thursday through Sunday.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at Shop 1/2 Dawn Road, Albany Creek, in the local shopping village. Parking is easy, with free off-street parking around the village and along Dawn Road, so arriving with a dog in the car is no drama.

The Albany Creek Dog Park on Leitchs Road South has fenced large and small dog zones for a run before pastry o'clock, and Bleakley Park Fenced Dog Park is another secure option nearby.
