House of Cards Wine

House of Cards Wine is a family-owned organic winery on Quininup Road in Yallingup, a few steps from Chow's Table, best known among dog owners for its resident golden retrievers, Rafa and Tilly. It is a genuinely relaxed stop for a tasting with a dog in tow.

Dog setup. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor grassed areas and around the cellar door, but must stay on lead and are not permitted inside the tasting room itself. Tastings can be done at outdoor tables or on the lawn so you can stay with your dog the whole time. Bring your own water bowl and treats, since the resident wine dogs are the hosts, not the amenities.

Known for. Single-vineyard, 100 percent organic wines, with a well-regarded Chenin Blanc and bold reds. Small-batch winemaking, a relaxed cellar door, small cheese platters and local produce, plus a playground for kids make it an easy family stop.

Getting there and parking. The cellar door sits just off Caves Road on Quininup Road, with ample on-site parking close to the tasting area.

Nearby with the dogs. Chow's Table is metres away for a dog-friendly lunch afterwards. Caves Road runs close to several nature trails and national park areas, though leash rules vary, so check signage before you walk. Quinninup Beach is also within reach for a post-tasting walk.

Weekday mornings are quietest if you want the lawn largely to yourselves; weekends bring more visitors and more dogs, which the resident retrievers seem to enjoy more than some guests will.
