Commonage Coffee Co. is a micro-roastery set in the rolling hills of Yallingup Siding, about ten minutes inland from the beach at Yallingup. Instead of fighting for a patch of sand-side pavement in Dunsborough, you get a quiet rural block with a vineyard outlook, serious coffee and room for your dog to settle at your feet.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome across the outdoor seating, which is where most people choose to sit anyway. The courtyard and grassed areas give you space that the busier coastal cafes simply cannot offer in holiday season, so an anxious dog or a young one still learning cafe manners has room to relax. Bring your own water bowl as the venue does not advertise one, and keep in mind that the indoor roastery space is for humans.

Worth knowing

The roastery opens Thursday to Sunday, 8am to 4pm, and closes Monday to Wednesday, so plan your Margaret River loop around those days. The menu leans on the roasting side: filter coffee and espresso from beans roasted on site, plus big muffins, banana bread and croissants that regularly get named as the reason people detour here. Next door at 859 Commonage Road sits Yallingup Chocolate Co., so the same stop covers coffee and chocolate in one hit. Check the roastery's Facebook page before a long drive in case seasonal hours shift.

Getting there and parking

The address is 855 Commonage Road, Yallingup Siding, reached off Caves Road between Yallingup and Cowaramup. Parking is free and generous on site, including an accessible bay with flat access to the outdoor seating, which makes arrival and departure with a leashed dog simple.

Make a day of it

The hills around here stack up nicely for a dog day out. The Wadandi Track offers a long, flat walk or ride along an old rail corridor, House of Cards Wine pours with views a few minutes south, and Meelup Dairy adds another farm-gate stop towards Dunsborough.
