Fraser Gallop Estate

Fraser Gallop Estate is a premium chardonnay and cabernet producer at 493 Metricup Road in Wilyabrup, and the lawns and outdoor tasting spaces out front are open to dogs on leads. You get sweeping valley views over the vines and a proper seated tasting without leaving your dog at the car.

The dog setup

Dogs on leads are welcome in the outdoor areas and on the lawns around the cellar door, with the outdoor tasting spaces the spot to aim for. Indoors is generally people only, so set up outside and check with staff on arrival if anything has changed. The grounds are kept manicured, which means a tidy lawn rather than a romping paddock, so it suits a dog that is happy to settle on the grass. Bring your own water bowl, as there is no guarantee of water stations out on the lawns.

Worth knowing

This is serious wine country: the estate's cabernet sauvignon has taken out the Decanter International Wine Trophy and the chardonnay is a regular award winner in the annual wine guides. Tastings run either seated, around the twenty dollar mark, or as a stand-up walk-in flight closer to ten dollars, with small grazing boards of local produce if you want to stretch it out. Hours are generally daily from 11am to 4pm, so a late-morning arrival works well in any season.

Getting there and parking

The estate sits directly off Metricup Road in the middle of the Wilyabrup sub-region, with ample free gravel parking on site. The entrance and parking are wheelchair accessible, and it is an easy in-and-out for a car with a dog aboard.
