Willespie Estate

Willespie Estate is a Wilyabrup pioneer, making wine since 1976, with a cosy, family-run cellar door and wine bar at 555 Harmans Mill Road. Dogs are genuinely welcomed here: well-behaved dogs can join you for a seated tasting, a glass on the balcony overlooking the vineyards, or a slow afternoon in the courtyard. With a 4.9 rating built on service and wine education, it is the kind of stop where the person pouring tells you the story behind every bottle.

The dog setup

Dogs on a lead are welcome in the outdoor seating, the balcony and the courtyard, with communal tables and room to settle alongside you. Water bowls are generally provided. Keep your dog leashed and supervised out of respect for other guests, and check in with staff on arrival in case seating-area guidelines have shifted for the day. It suits sociable dogs that are comfortable around people at shared tables.

The vibe

The estate is known for classic, consistent cabernet sauvignon across three ranges: Homestead, Wilyabrup Reserve and Flying Machine, plus a Wilyabrup Reserve Chardonnay and Fume Blanc. Standard tastings cost around $10, redeemable against a bottle purchase, while private hosted tastings for two to eight guests run about $40 to $70 an hour with museum and reserve lineups. A bar-snacks menu built on local produce covers the grazing. Walk-ins are welcome; book ahead for groups of six or more.

Getting there and parking

Find it via a short scenic drive off Caves Road, with ample flat parking beside the cellar door, an easy walk to the outdoor seating with a dog. Doors open daily 10:30am to 5pm, including public holidays, closed Christmas Day.
