Savina Lane Wines

Savina Lane Wines is a boutique 8-acre cellar door on the Granite Belt, just south of Stanthorpe, where tastings run by appointment only and dogs are welcome to settle in on the outdoor veranda while you work through a one-on-one tasting.

Dog access and setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating around the cellar door, including the veranda and surrounding lawn. The tasting room itself is an intimate, appointment-only space, so keep dogs to the outdoor areas unless staff say otherwise when you book. There is no on-site accommodation, so an overnight stay with your dog is not an option here. Bring your own water bowl and treats, and keep dogs leashed around the vines and other visitors.

Known for. Savina Lane has picked up trophies for its Fiano and Best Queensland Shiraz, and specialises in alternative varieties sometimes called "strange birds" on the Granite Belt, including Tempranillo, Montepulciano and Fiano. The cellar door has a cosy fit-out with chesterfield lounges, a log fire for winter visits, and views over the vineyard.

Getting there and parking. The winery is at 61 Savina Lane, Severnlea, a short drive south of Stanthorpe in the Southern Downs. There is ample, easy on-site parking. Because tastings are appointment-only, book your slot online before you drive out, and mention you are bringing a dog when you do.

Nearby with the dogs. Donnelly's Castle, a nature reserve with easy walking tracks through granite boulders, is close by in Severnlea and makes a good leg-stretch before or after your tasting. Stanthorpe itself has a scattering of dog-friendly wineries and a brewery with a dog-friendly deck if you want to turn the visit into a full day out.

Weekday appointments tend to be quieter than weekend slots, so if your dog is easily overwhelmed by other visitors, ask for an early or midweek booking. Good for calm dogs who are happy to settle on a lead while you taste.
